Services and Programs
| Programs for Single Parents |
If you are a single parent, we have some programs just for you!!! If
you're working on your high school diploma, we may be able to help you out with tuition
and books. You have to do a few things first, however, before we can do this. First, you
have to visit the ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER at
Sunny Plaza in Tamuning. They have more programs and resources than we do, and we require
that you seek their help first. If they can't help you out, then bring us your child's
birth certificate and updated shot records (or proof of current immunizations). There's a
little bit of paperwork, but once you're done, we may be able to pay for one or two
classes for you! We'll also help you out with your career planning, and help you get with
other resources, such as the Guam Single Parent Network. |
| Sex Equity / Non-Traditional Programs |
If you're a guy that's interested in Cosmetology or Nursing, or a gal
that's interested in a technical field such as Architectural Engineering, or even
Automotive Mechanics, we may be able to help you out by paying for a class or two in your
first semester. This should be enough to help you decide if this is for you, and then we
can connect you with other funding to help you pay for your education! For more info

| Personal Counseling |
Once you've joined the GCC team, we know you'll be with us for a while. We
also know that "stuff happens" in your life outside of school that affects your
educational pursuits. We're here to help you work on the tough spots in your life when you
need us. Just so you know, you can expect our counseling to be confidential, and you are
free to see any counselor you are comfortable with. Although we may not be able to fix
everything that needs fixing, we can refer you to others who can help you out with special
problems. We're also here if all you need is a sympathetic ear. It's up to you to take
that first step, but know that there are some outstanding and caring professionals to help
you from there. |
| Academic Counseling |
Whether you are trying to finish your High School Diploma with us or
pursuing a college degree or certificate, we can guide you to take the right courses to
reach your goals. We also know the "tricks of the trade" to work with your
unique situation or goals within our college system. Watch out, though! You may wind up
going for your doctorate degree before we're finished with you! |
| Career Counseling and Planning |
Whether you're trying to land your first job, or are changing careers
later on in life, we have the tools and the experience to help you make sound career
decisions. We can help you develop your resume, learn how to have a successful interview,
or just figure out how your interests relate to the world of work. All you need to do is
make an appointment to get started! |
| Student Advocates |
You're not alone when you attend GCC! We are here to help you successfully
navigate through the red tape and also help you if you and an instructor are nose-to-nose
instead of seeing eye-to-eye. We're the experts in conflict resolution, and we also know
some of the shortcuts when you need to get something done ASAP. |
| Testing and Placement |
Whether you like it or not, testing is a part of being in college. If it
looks like we goofed and put you in the wrong class, we can usually straighten it out with
a little bit of assessment. But remember ... if you don't let us know, we'll assume
everything is fine! We can also give you an interest test, personality tests, etc to help
you learn more about yourself! |
| Guest Speakers |
Whether it's a class assignment, a group meeting, or a conference, we have
an enormous wealth of knowledge that we just love to share. If you need a speaker for your
event, give in touch with us! |
| Off-Island Colleges |
If your educational plans point to off-island colleges, we can save you
time and money. We have quite a few college catalogs in the Counseling reference library,
as well as some cool software that can pick colleges for you and help you write them a
letter of interest. We also have internet access to help with your search for colleges ...
or jobs!! |
