Being a single parent is a tough job - originally designed for two! If you find
yourself in that situation, you may want to check us out. Our mission is to empower single
parent homes to become successful, with healthy, nurturing families for children and
parents grow together.
| Monthly Workshops |
Usually held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at GCC, we have guest speakers covering
topics of interest to single parents. Some recent workshops include How to Own Your Own
Home; Kids and Stress; Dare to Discipline; Self-Defense Skills; and Budgeting on One
Income. All our workshops are free, and we even provide childcare and refreshments! |
| Support Group |
If you're going through a rough time, our support group is there for you. Sometimes,
just being with other people who really understand what you're going through can be a huge
help. For more info, contact Tim Puzan at 735-5563 or tim@guamcc.net. |
| Annual Parenting Conference |
Every year, we head down to Tumon and put on the best conference for parents possible.
We have some real high-powered speakers on topics that parents just love. And of course,
we have child care on site as well as a great buffet lunch. We're working on our next
conference, tentatively scheduled for Spring 1999. Keep posted for more info! |
| PRISM |
PRISM stands for Parents Searching Inward Seeking Meaning. This is a 12-session
seminar for single parents grieving the ending of a relationship. We offer this seminar a
few times each year, and there is a minimal cost involved. Our biggest requirement is that
you come prepared and committed to work on your grieving process in a small group setting.
Trained facilitators are there to help guide you through the process so that you can begin
to feel whole again, and become better parents for your children. We can also refer you to
the Rainbows Program for your children to help understand their feelings during this
difficult time. For more info, tim@guamcc.net or call
him at 735-5563. |
| Santa's Workshop |
Every December, the GSPN puts on a Santa's Workshop for
single parent families. Besides a visit from Santa, complete with picture for each child,
parents and their children also do Christmas arts and crafts projects together, such as
make and decorate gingerbread houses, ornaments, and a picture frame for that famous
picture with Santa! |
| Special Events |
Every year, we have various happenings such as a Christmas Arts and Crafts Bazaar,
Summer Go Fly A Kite, Campout at Tarague Beach, to name a few. |
| How can I Help?!!! |
We are always looking for single parents and others to pitch in with all our various
