Thiyagarajah Wignarajah Memorial Scholarship

Thiyagarajah Wignarajah, an electrical engineer and manager for many years of Otis Elevator Company, often spoke of the need on Guam for local people to be trained in electrical and electronic engineering. To honor his memory and to help provide such training, two scholarships will be awarded to electrical and electronic engineering students at Guam Community College. One scholarship for $600.00 will be awarded each semester.

Qualifications

  • Major in electrical or electronic engineering
  • Resident of Guam
  • Citizen of the U. S., FSM, Belau, Marshall Islands or a permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8.
  • Intention to remain on Guam
  • At least half-time enrollment (6 credit hours)

    NOTE: Awards will be prorated according to enrollment status:

    • 6-8 credit hours $300.00
    • 9-11 credit hours $450.00
    • 12 credit hours or more $600.00

Documents required for submission

  • Scholarship application
  • Transcript
  • Statement of goals
  • Two letters of recommendation from instructors or employers.

Forfeiture

  • Forfeiture of eligibility will result from any of the following: suspension or dismissal for academic deficiency or withdrawal during the awarded semester. In the event of forfeiture, the full award amount will be immediately due and payable to GCC and will be awarded the following semester.
