JTB Global Foundation Micronesia Scholarship Program

The JTB Global Foundation Micronesia, a non-profit organization under the laws of the Territory of Guam, promotes education and training in the travel/tourism industry in Guam and Micronesia by awarding grants to educational institutions. The foundation was organized by Pacific Micronesia Tours, Inc. (Now PMT Guam Corporation, a JTB Group company) in March 1993.

The Foundation is sponsoring annually three (3) $500.00 scholarships for Guam community College students pursuing a degree in Travel and Tourism. The Foundation reserves the right to change this amount and number of awards depending on availability of funds.

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:

  • The Recipient is a Guam resident with U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status, or a citizen from the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Belau.
  • Recipient must have declared a degree in Travel/Tourism, and must be a full-time student in order to qualify for the $500.00 award, and a part-time student in order to qualify for the $250.00 award.
  • Recipient must, in addition to the Travel/Tourism classes, be enrolled in a Japanese language course.
  • Recipient must be of good moral character and in good standing with the college, earning a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Recipient must have stated a desire to pursue education that benefits the travel/tourism industry of Guam, Saipan and/or Micronesia.

 Applicant must submit the following:

  • Scholarship application form
  • Official transcript
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • A short statement of goals

 Forfeiture of this scholarship may result from any of the following:

  • Suspension or dismissal for academic deficiency
  • Withdrawal from GCC for any reason during the year
  • Conviction of a felony

 In the event of forfeiture, the full amount will immediately be due and payable to GCC to be used on the same scholarship for the following year.
